A practical, interactive leadership workshop for Year 10–12 students interested in medicine, dentistry and healthcare.
Getting into medicine, dentistry and healthcare is not just about grades.
Strong applicants need to show confidence, communication, teamwork, maturity, leadership and the ability to think clearly under pressure. These are the skills that help students stand out in applications, interviews, work experience, school life and beyond.
The problem is that many students only start thinking about these skills when it is already late.
The Healthcare Leadership Lab is designed to help students start early.
Through speaking practice, team challenges and healthcare-inspired scenarios, students will learn how to communicate more clearly, work with others, think under pressure and build the kind of experiences they can later reflect on in applications and interviews.
This is not a passive lecture. Students will be expected to take part, speak, discuss, collaborate and challenge themselves in a supportive environment.
Students will work on confidence, communication, leadership, teamwork, problem-solving and healthcare-style thinking. They will also receive a certificate of participation, which can be used as evidence of wider learning and personal development.
By the end of the workshop, students should leave with more confidence speaking in front of others, a better understanding of what strong healthcare applicants need beyond grades, practical experience of working in teams, and a clearer sense of how to start preparing early for medicine, dentistry and healthcare applications.
